The control room is big and has beautiful natural light. All patching to live room is via a dedicated XLR bay, so that you can A/B different pres without having to walk into the live room. It also has full tie lines for mic, instrument and speaker so you can easily play from this room and send any type of signal into or out of this space.
The main live room is approximately 8m x 6m x 3.5 high and has full sight lines and tie lines for mics, instruments and speakers to both iso booths and the control room. It's fully floated so you can make lots of noise day and night. It also has natural light, so you can tell whether it‘s day or night.
The large booth is 4m x 2.5m x 3.5 high and is good for amps, singers or even a tighter drum sound. It has an excellent view in to the main live room.
The smaller booth is super dry and can fit singers or amps.
Golden Retriever is an analogue and Protools recording and mixing studio on the border of Kreuzberg and Neukölln in Berlin, Germany.
We have vintage and modern everything from makers including Quad Eight, Electrodyne, Neumann, SSL, Great River, Eventide, Lomo, Federal, Neve, Voxorama/MBHO, as well as well as lots of guitars, organs, amps, drum machines, synths and a concert grand piano.
The studio was established and is operated by Simon 'Berkfinger' Berckelman to meet the needs of the most underground local independent artists and established international acts and producers under the same roof.
The LIVE ROOM is as close to a perfect drum and general tracking room as we can imagine. Everything sounds great in here, thanks to the carefully planned layout and wide open spaces with a lack of ugly reflections and weird resonances. The concrete foundation of the live room is floated from all the control rooms and even the live room walls, generating an incredibly linear bottom end response and great separation. Close mics sound super tight and the room mics sound balanced, with a warm and relatively short decay for such a large space.
The space measures 12m x 7m with an awesome 9m ceiling height and comfortably fits any sized band as well as small to medium orchestral setups. An iso booth in the attic can also be accessed for amplifiers and doubles as an accommodation option for out of town artists/producers. The room comes with an always growing collection of vintage keys, amplifiers and a couple of upright pianos.
This space can be connected to any of the studios, or hired out as a stand alone room for BYO recording setups, events and film shoots.
